even if I water the plant religiously
it never seems to sprout
why try a lavender
when you can have primroses in drought?
a cactus may as well sit by my side instead
the prickly folk will always be there
she swore she swore she said she’d swear
the daffodils (the narcissus)
staring into the river
live music, a lopsided
painting and a smile
you ask me as we walk the path
which flower I would sing love to,
a blessed trial. would a gardenia do?
or really any flower at all?
the pure white is stained, stained down
to the proper rank and file
drained and uprooted,
her petals will only shine
(for a little while)
