beacon

12/10/18 10.28pm

as you sail you watch the lights slowly
blinker in slow motion, neutrons bursting spilling
out over the split radius of an astigmatic glare —
those star lights blinking like the beacon of last call
an equal longing,
a whimper, a bang, a soft shell
christmas waiting for you in the gentile
rain blessing and enriching our bones.
grating. please love i wave my flag; consider this
a petition for you to come home
on the next train out of town please i’ve forgotten
and all i wish is for you to turn before you leave
and ask me if i want to follow.

“starlight raining over me,
like drifting through a memory”
