watch

On observation, decay, and standing guard

to watch the orchid take its time a fate of wilt and wonder.

to watch the apple ripen and drop, and blow away facades.

to watch the stone of walls corrode, acid upon a base.

to watch a carcass shrivel up, ants doing what they must.

to watch your ice begin to melt, a cold cumbrous column.

to watch you standing guard, again, the war is not yet won.
